I fell in love with a version of these shelves I saw on a few different blogs. I love the contrast of the steel end caps and hand stained wood. It was tricky finding pieces that all fit together snuggly, but these turned out solid and beautiful. We have loads of books on both shelves now, and they're so sturdy.
